we went upstate this weekend and our accidental soundtrack was t. rex. it's great when you haven't listened to an album or artist in a long time, and suddenly find a song to fall in love with. when "metal guru" came on, it was as though i was hearing it for the first time even though i've owned it for years. i really don't remember having heard it before, but perhaps it just wasn't the right time. that's what i love about music- sometimes it just doesn't stand out, but a certain moment can bring it to your attention. like taking a road trip with your boyfriend and dog, and when it comes on, it's the best song ever. and from then on, that's nostalgia.
