i finally got a chance to work with my oldest friend, alia raza, on one of of her newest videos. we've known each other since we were 5- we met in kindergarten, shared a cubby; she used to draw me pictures of boom boxes. now she makes videos and other cool things- and there is no doubt she has a lot of other great things to come.
over the years between us, there's been a lot of talk about collaborations, but for whatever reasons, they've never worked out. until last month- when she emailed to ask if i would contribute some custom duskin pieces for a project she was shooting later that week with tavi gevinson - style rookie, i obviously jumped at the chance. alia. tavi. seriously?
all i can share right now is that tavi was such a pleasure to meet- completely poised, professional, and extremely well-spoken. naturally stunning. her mother was really sweet as well- so supportive and open. the whole team was really small, and everyone worked so well together.
i think we were all wowed by what we saw because, visually, everything came out just as we'd wanted, if not better.
the following image is a shot of the monitor while alia was setting up the scene with tavi. check back for updates and more images (or email me if you want any more info- i will share whatever i know and can)- it will be a while before any of us can see the final product, but i am so proud to have been a part of this inspiring project...
