a little anthem for your monday

we went upstate this weekend and our accidental soundtrack was t. rex. it's great when you haven't listened to an album or artist in a long time, and suddenly find a song to fall in love with. when "metal guru" came on, it was as though i was hearing it for the first time even though i've owned it for years. i really don't remember having heard it before, but perhaps it just wasn't the right time. that's what i love about music- sometimes it just doesn't stand out, but a certain moment can bring it to your attention. like taking a road trip with your boyfriend and dog, and when it comes on, it's the best song ever. and from then on, that's nostalgia.

these images came up when i google image searched "victorian ghosts" or something similar. horse is from mark wallinger. the girl is from flickr, and her mother has a whole set dedicated to her. she is really a beautiful, seemingly happy child. and the fact that she wanted to dress like this...? amazing.

ny magazine has a story on lisa and chris goode's nolita apartment penthouse mansion. some of it actually reminds of los angeles. it's so rare to see windows and light and views like that here. unless i'm hanging with the wrong crowd.
