1. sleep, wake up early
2. start running more (again)
3. work less, but make more meaningful work
4. less internet roaming, but more blogging
5. relax
6. spend more time with family
7. movies, books, art, music- see, read, look, listen more (thanks for reminding me, rebecca)

(12.30.08) i decided to keep adding to this list since there is so much i left out, and i am also a terrible editor and a hasty poster.

the other day i was tagged for the very first time by noemi, from life in lomo and xxn. Here are 8-ish a bunch of random things about myself:

1. i am addicted to the internet. i'm on it all day.

2. i sometimes wish i was still a smoker.

3. i am addicted to sleeping. i love it and i hate it. i can do it all day.

4. i take pleasure in my tears. sometimes pain feels good.

5. i like firm handshakes and good jokes.

6. i don't like a song, i love it. and then i listen to it over and over, and over and over.
7. two of my close friends i've known for 24+25 years.

8. i hate photos of myself, my dog's name is lou, and we are both pictured above.
9. i am rarely weather-appropriate, wearing summer clothes during the winter, and some winter clothes during the summer.
10. i lived in los angeles for just over a year, and sometimes i miss it. a lot. but most times i am so happy to be back in new york.
11. i take pleasure in an evening drink.
12. i have a terrible sweet-tooth, and i'm a junk food junkie
13. i love young love.
14. with a -9.5 / -10 prescription, i'm almost legally blind.

spectator & pupil

my friend alia raza, whom i've known since she and i were 5 and shared a cubby in kindergarten together, has had a very good year. it all started with last january, as she shot her first short film, white light, which was adapted from a miranda july story, and since, it seems she hasn't stopped working. music videos, art videos, music/art events, editing her projects, and coming up with new ones, etc. she keeps herself busy. interview just ran a story about her most recent project- a music video for the band, violens. check it out here.

good mourning II

i met diana oberlander years ago through a mutual friend, but i never knew much about her, except that she also worked in fashion, and was going to grad school. we just reconnected through facebook (but, of course), and after rummaging through her photos (isn't that what you do on those sites?) i was pleasantly surprised to learn that she is also a brilliant artist. i immediately fell in love with this porcelain mourning lace series she made, as well as the book of woodcuts also pictured. i love how the shapes are so fluid, that by default, they are perfect. it pains me to know that most of them have been snatched up, but i'm not surprised. Victorian lace patterns on porcelain? I've died and gone to heaven.

sadly, she doesn't have a website, otherwise i would post it here. she's a rare breed that doesn't really try to commercialize on her artistic talents. much of her work is personal, and word spreads organically.

the simple dress with velvet ruffle collar (a custom piece). so soft and silky, i love it. if it weren't raining out right now, i would be wearing this with black tights and booties to meet some friends. instead, i'll keep my jeans and sneakers on and spare you the photo.

bryn & lou

a few years ago, deena, from strong kent wythe, and i started this little company, bryn & lou (tiny toys), named after our little dogs. we made block prints, organic toys, cat dancers, mobiles, and basically whatever else we came up with. we even had a great write up in lucky magazine. then i moved to los angeles and it was kind of put on hold. right now we're so busy starting our own companies (and blogging) that it's hard to find time for it...but the good thing is that we know bryn & lou will always be there, whenever we feel like picking it back up, in any way we desire. anyway, my train of thought led me to the webpage, which deena brilliantly designed (and i think effortlessly, too). it's an image i will never tire of because it continues to inspire and mean so many good things to me...

heavy metal | | | miami slice

i'll be in miami for a much-needed mini-vacation during art basel (12|4|08-12|7|08), and one of the few things i'm making a priority (besides sun) is checking out this jose davila installation for renwick gallery. it will be at art positions, which is off the main site, on the beach front. art positions gives 20 young galleries a shipping container to showcase their artist(s). in davila and renwick's case, the container is the art. i've heard a lot about it from my friend, christine, who manages the gallery, and can't wait to see it in person. i'm not well-versed in art in any way, but i think from this image, it looks like perfection.

i really loved this model, debora muller from one management. she was so sweet and professional. she barely spoke any english, but she did a great job working with our photographer, matt wilson. there must be some model/photographer language that i'm not privy to.

wrap dress in silk charmeuse. you can't really tell here, but it's so short and silky that it's terribly sexy.
